What are the best things about Idemitsu people?

They’re open and honest – what you see is what you get. They are friendly and support their work mates to achieve their goals and those of the business. They are driven to do the best they can in their role, with a focus on the overall strategy of Idemitsu.

What advice would you give to an Idemitsu person on their first day?

Working at Idemitsu is not like working at other mining companies in Australia – be prepared to embrace the unique fusion of Japanese and Australian culture in the business. Take the opportunity to engage with and get to know your new colleagues as they will be your biggest support. If you make values-based decisions and always try to do the right thing, you will be successful at Idemitsu.

What are the best things about Idemitsu people?

We have the most engaged and enthusiastic people I have ever worked with. People here really feel like they are part of something worthwhile and are valued for their contribution. They’re comfortable managing their own jobs whether they are a frontline Operator or working in Head Office. We hire our people because they already know what they’re doing—not so that someone else in an office can tell them how it should be done!

What advice would you give to an Idemitsu person on their first day?

Make yourself at home. We pride ourselves on having a family-like environment. Leaders are visible and accessible, and we believe that success comes by working together. No-one here is off limits to share your ideas or concerns with. And don’t be afraid to fail—that’s how we learn!

What are the best things about Idemitsu people?

I have experienced numerous corporate cultures throughout my time in the mining industry, having worked for a few different mining companies across a range of commodities. In my view, what defines the Idemitsu culture and its people is the high level of integrity, respect for one another and their approachability. I can honestly say that Idemitsu has the best culture I have experienced during my 20-year career in mining.

What advice would you give to an Idemitsu person on their first day?

Be open minded to the unique, supportive culture that is within Idemitsu. You will find that we are here to support you, to help you settle in and become successful in your role. Your success is our success.
