Muswellbrook Coal Company (MCC) has had a proud 115-year history in the Muswellbrook area, maintaining strong relationships with the community and contributing to the region’s economy through employment opportunities and supporting local businesses.

Coal mining ceased in late 2022, having exhausted all coal reserves and the area occupied by the mine is currently undergoing mine rehabilitation.

The site is currently undergoing post mining land use assessment to transition to a clean industries precinct, with two projects progressing through state approval processes, being the Muswellbrook Pumped Hydro Energy Storage Project and the Muswellbrook Solar Farm.

The West Muswellbrook exploration area was divested in 2024.
