Muswellbrook Coal

Muswellbrook Coal Company (MCC) has a proud 100-year history in the Muswellbrook area, maintaining strong relationships with the community and contributing to the region’s economy through employment opportunities and supporting local businesses.

The mine supports a workforce of about 150 people comprising of MCC  employees and specialist contractors. With a local workforce and strong commitment to supporting local people, our workers and their families are part of the community.

Underground coal mining commenced at Muswellbrook Coal Mine in 1907 and open-cut operations in 1944. Currently mining operations are focused on the No. 1 Open Cut area which began operation in 2005.

MCC operates as a truck and shovel multi-seam coal mine. Coal is crushed and washed then hauled to the Ravensworth Coal Terminal, where it is then transported by rail to the Port of Newcastle for export.

The Mine has a production limit of 2 Million Tonnes per annum (mtpa).

The West Muswellbrook exploration area is a greenfield development site currently under assessment by Idemitsu Australia. It is in the early stages of progressing through the relevant exploration and regulatory approval processes required to develop this project in the future.

Our commitment is to the environment and local community in which we operate.
