National Greenhouse gas and Energy Reporting System (NGERS)
IAR is committed to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act 2007 (NGERS).
IAR was registered for NGERS on 31 August 2009 and have submitted reports for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 years.Energy Efficiency Opportunities (EEO)
IAR is a controlling corporation for the purposes of the Energy Efficiencies Opportunities Act 2006 (Cth) (Act) and was registered as such on 31 March 2007 .
In the past Ensham Resources Pty Ltd (Ensham) a Group Member of the Idemitsu group, was required to report separately on the operations of the Ensham Coal Mine. In an attempt to avoid duplication and under the advice of the Department of Resources and Energy, IAR has submitted a joint report for the 2009-10 reporting year.
The EEO Report for the 2009-10 period is attached below. This report provides broad information about initial energy efficiency opportunity assessments carried out by IAR in particular Ensham since April 2007. Also attached below is a more detailed description of Ensham's key energy efficiency activities during the reporting period. Through coordinated and proactive energy efficiency activities on site, Ensham has been able to achieve a 25% reduction in energy use per tonne of run-of-mine coal when compared with the previous year.
